बौद्ध दृष्टिकोण मे पूर्वजन्म एवं अपरजन्मः एक समीक्षा
Abstract
The system of "rebirth and next birth" is not only a theory but a subject of examination is also. The belief in its existence creates fundamental theism. For Buddhists, it is a challenging and serious subject because concepts of karma, the four noble truths, the eightfold noble path, the system of salvation, etc. are completely based upon the existence of the system of "rebirth and no birth". By not accepting the system of salvation (rebirth and next birth) the concepts of karma, four noble truths, etc., become useless. Although it is possible to prove the existence of a previous birth to be true, it is not an easy task. The nature of the mind is such that most people do not have the opportunity to remember their past lives. At present, our mind is covered by many veils. Out of these veils, the prominent one is the six sufferings. These six afflictions are the root cause of this world. Because of these six sufferings, we are not able to know the existence of the previous and the next birth. Just as when the mirror is covered with filth, we cannot see anything clearly, the mind covered with the feces of affliction does not allow the existence of the previous birth to be aware of it. Apart from this, the fear of death, etc. also compels the being to forget the things of the previous birth.
