Buddhist and Ancient Indian Education: An Introduction

Abstract

The teachings of Buddha are considered very important from the point of view of religion, philosophy, and history. The history of Indian education is also the history of Indian civilization.

Ancient Indian Education is that criterion of social development that explains its development level. Education is the foundation of the physical and spiritual development of the human group. That is why from time to time, we find the tradition of evaluating the education system. India, whose civilization is counted as one of the oldest civilizations of the world and which has the world's oldest book Vedas in its heritage, certainly, must have had a robust education system from the beginning. This solid educational foundation is responsible for the knowledge of philosophy, astrology, literature, religion and fine arts, which now the whole world appreciates.
